Fiestas with children

There are many activities designed especially for children, because in many of the towns you will find fairs with attractions, parades with music bands, and children’s activities before and after the horse festival, even giant dances.

Menorca’s patron saint festivities not only offer fun for adults, but also for the youngest members of the family. In addition to the famous Jaleos, which can be dangerous for children, town halls and neighbourhood associations organise numerous activities designed especially for them.

In each village you will find spaces for fairs, where there will be bumper cars, bouncy castles, trampolines and many other attractions. You can also enjoy giant dances, parades with music bands and sports activities. In addition, days before the horse festival there are circus workshops, storytelling and popular games, and, in some towns, the days after the horses you can find foam parties and water games.

Each town has its own children’s activities, such as the children’s proclamation and the parade of floats in Sant Lluís or the spectacular parade of floats with a specific theme that changes every year in Alaior. Finally, all the patron saint festivities culminate with a fireworks display at midnight, which will be the finishing touch to a festival full of fun and joy for the whole family.

We do not recommend the participation of minors in the Jaleos

El Jaleo is not a safe space for minors, it is not a family-friendly environment even if they are accompanied by an adult or guardian.

That is why from Fiestas Menorca, we strongly recommend that minors are not allowed access to the Jaleos, even if they are accompanied by a family member.

We do not recommend petting horses with small children

If you want to enjoy these beautiful animals without risking it, there are quieter and safer times than during the festivities to get up close and personal with them. Well, despite being domestic animals, they do not behave like other smaller pets that can be intimidated by an adult. The interaction you have with the horse is your responsibility.

If despite this and under your responsibility you want to approach the horses, the first thing we recommend is that you talk to the rider, keeping a prudent distance and ask him, because he is aware of the character of his horse and will be able to tell you if you can approach or not.

Keep in mind that, in many of the island’s villages, there are riding schools and equestrian centers that offer horseback riding and other activities for all ages throughout the year. These are the safest and most fun options for those who wish to experience the beauty of these majestic animals in a controlled and safe environment.
